We are delighted to provide a wide range of dog training services in Spokane, WA and the surrounding areas. We are able to offer private lessons, group classes and behavior modification, in addition to other specialized teaching across the many divisions of our business.

Our philosophy has resulted in a reputation for diagnosing and resolving problematic dog behaviors – even severe aggression or fear behaviors which many other trainers are unable or refuse to deal with. Our goal is to provide our clients in Spokane with the dog training solutions they require to effectively deal with every type of issue, covering everything from simple obedience training, to more troublesome aggression and behavioral problems.

We work with all types of dogs – old and young, big and small – and specialize in dogs which other trainers consider “hard to train”. We have successfully rehabilitated hundreds of dogs which others have suggested should be euthanized. Our job is to ensure your dog’s undesirable behavior is corrected – and to help you understand how to maintain the desirable behaviors going forward.

Highland Canine Training, LLC offers professional, proven dog training services based on humane and motivational techniques. Our scientific approach is constantly refining and improving our approach to dog training. We treat all dogs and their owners with respect, courtesy and humility, all with the aim of achieving the best possible results for everyone we work with – humans and animals alike.

Dana Parris

Your Spokane, WA Dog Trainer

Dana Parris is Highland Canine Training’s professional dog trainer, covering Spokane, Coeur D’Alene and the surrounding areas.

Dana’s life has involved dogs from a very young age! When she was six months old, Dana’s family acquired a Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Jock. He would be a part of Dana’s life until she was almost a teenager. After that, her family acquired another Staffie, Charlie, and then a couple of months later, a Prague Ratter named Oscar. Growing up around dogs has fueled Dana’s passion for training them professionally.

A graduate of the Master Dog Trainer program at the School for Dog Trainers, Dana has extensive experience working with a variety of dogs. In particular, she enjoyed the working dog portion of the six-month course, citing detection, trailing and bitework as just a few of the awesome capabilities of these amazing dogs.

Dana has the skillset, temperament and knowledge to help resolve problematic behaviors with dogs. She understands the challenges faced by dog owners and is enthusiastic about helping improve the bond between dogs and their owners, as she explains:

“For me, miscommunication – owners not understanding how their dogs learn and understand – is one of the biggest barriers I see to successful dog-owner relationships. It is really important for me to show dog owners how to communicate and interact with their dog.”

With her passion for improving the relationship between dogs and their owners, Dana says that helping clients in Spokane wasn’t a difficult decision.

“I have always been enthusiastic about working with dogs and I’ve wanted to learn as much as I could so that I can help others.

It is so rewarding to see the changes you can make to a dog’s life – and the life of their owners, too! Sometimes, the simple things can make a huge difference. Other times, a situation requires a more complex solution. But regardless of the situation, the outcome – and seeing the improvements you can make – is amazing.”
