Dog Training North Port, FL

Dan grew up in Massachusetts and is now residing in Port Charlotte, Florida. As a young boy, Dan was fascinated by various animals and their different behaviors. When he was 16 years old, he began learning a martial art that focused on different animal fighting styles and the how the applications of their behaviors could be used for self-defense. For over 14 years, Dan taught group classes and private lessons to thousands of people ranging in age from 4 to 75 years old.

As a police officer, Dan served the citizens of Massachusetts for 8 years before relocating to Southwest Florida. He worked for the City of North Port for an additional 5 years before finishing his career as a detective.

During his career in law enforcement, Dan found he had an interest in the canine unit and moreover, the specialized training they were doing with the dogs. This inspired him to adopt and train Ekko, a Belgian Malinois. As he and Ekko progressed, Dan realized he had reignited his passion for the training that had begun with his early career when he taught the martial arts.

Dan completed the Master Dog Trainer Program taught at the School for Dog Trainers. He subsequently completed their intensive internship program, which focused on advanced canine behavior and business management. Dan enjoyed regularly assisting Highland in working with the local shelter to help identify behaviors those dogs needed to improve, in order for them to be successfully placed in their forever homes.

Dan’s mission is to prevent pets from being surrendered, returned to shelters, or worse, euthanized. He enjoys providing dog owners with everyday solutions to improve behavior, inspire obedience, instill neutrality and increase dependability in their beloved pets.

Dan is committed to enhancing the relationship between dogs and their owners through a process that is both balanced and fair. Dan helps use the owner’s established values, to encourage the engagement necessary to inevitably create an unbreakable bond between them and the dog that will stand the test of time. He offers group classes, private lessons, in-home and board & train for dogs of all ages, breeds and behaviors.
