Service Dog Trainer
Abby is a North Carolina native, growing up in the Winston-Salem area of the state. Abby has always had a passion for working with animals and helping people.
Prior to working at Highland Canine, Abby was a certified veterinary assistant, in addition to taking grooming classes and pet-sitting jobs, before embarking on a career in dog training.
Abby graduated from the Master Dog Trainer program at the School for Dog Trainers, where she was inducted into the Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society for outstanding performance throughout the duration of the course.
As a Service Dog Trainer, Abby’s two passions – dogs and helping people – have come together, as she explains:
“I have so much fun tapping into the intelligence of the dogs in order to teach them complex tasks that will one day improve somebody’s quality of life.
Raising a puppy, watching them grow into a trained service dog, and then handing them to their new handler is the greatest feeling in the world. I can’t imagine doing anything else!”
Abby was recently featured in Highland Canine’s Women and Working Dogs series, where she elaborated on the challenges and rewards of being a service dog trainer. You can read the article here.
